Guy Primus leads the industry on cinematic VR at The VR Company, where Steven Spielberg sits on the board. The VRC is currently in production on "Ready Player One". Guy also co-founded and managed Tentpole Ventures, a seed-stage tech investment fund that focuses on consumer lifestyle companies and whose portfolio includes Pinterest, DogVacay, Fancy and Loom (acquired by Dropbox) for Smith. Prior to joining Overbrook, Guy was Director of Digital Media at Starbucks, where he co-created the popular "Pick of the Week" program. He also served as Vice President of Strategy & Planning for Blue Flame, the marketing and advertising agency founded by Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Robinne has been featured in The Hollywood Reporter as “The Next Generation of Industry Execs” and was named in Forbes Magazine as "5 People Pushing Technology You Want to Work With Now" for her work in Interactive Media and emerging tech. She was among the final candidates for a 2016 Primetime Emmy Award for her work on the social VR experience, "The World Cup of Hip Hop" on Oculus. Her 2016 project "In Your Shoes", a 360 VR and broadcast series concept won first place in the NAB Innovation Pilot Award. She is currently developing a program with Africa Rising, an organization in South Africa founded by the Nelson Mandela family to bring emerging technology and VR to the African continent.
The Los Angeles-based Director of VR oversees all things VR (ranging from ideation to production to post-production and distribution strategies) for the creative agency and production company 1215creative. In 2016, Duong co-founded SH//FT (Shaping Holistic Inclusion in Future Technologies), an organization that supports equality, diversity, and inclusion in future technologies. She was recently named #22 in Onalytica’s 100 Top Individual Virtual Reality Influencers of 2016.
Malia is Director of Brand Development for VRScout, one of the world’s leading immersive media companies. VRScout inspires a community of millions of explorers and creators around the world through original reporting, one-of-a-kind events, and video and VR content created in their LA studio. Host of two podcasts, Malia is a frequent speaker and has been named in the Top 20 Most Influential People in the VR/AR industry as well as one of the Top 20 Women in VR in LA.
Celine Tricart is a VR filmmaker and founder of Lucid Dreams Productions, a production company specializing in new technologies and the future of storytelling. Her work was showcased in numerous Academy Awards festivals, the Austin Film Festival, the Clermont Ferrand Film Festival and the Chicago Film Festival. Celine was also the recipient of a Creative Award by the Advanced Imaging Society. Celine develops projects in stereoscopic 3D as well as in virtual reality. She was the DP of the acclaimed Jaunt VR/Conversation International documentary “Under The Canopy” and Maria Bello’s upcoming “Sunladies” VR doc about the women Yazidi fighting ISIS in Iraq.
Kimberlee is Samsung’s VR marketing evangelist, championing the democratization of VR and leading go-to-market strategies for the company’s VR ecosystem, which includes the industry-leading Gear VR technology, Gear 360 cameras and Samsung VR distribution platform. In addition, Kimberlee has pioneered VR content creation partnerships for entertainment programming, branding efforts and immersive 4D experiences. Two of her projects for Samsung VR – “Gone,” a serialized VR thriller produced with Walking Dead production company Skybound Entertainment, and the 2016 Major League Baseball World Series – rwere considered for Emmys.
Named by the New York Times as an “Artist to Watch,” Vargas is an award-winning writer, director, producer, multiplatform and Virtual Reality creator. Co-founder of Digital-Reign, an emerging media production company, she has created apps, games and branded entertainment for the Fast and the Furious, Lord of the Rings trilogy and Madonna. Vargas executive produced, wrote & directed her digital series Dark Prophet, starring Henry Rollins - a series up for two Emmys. Vargas has sold her series Muses to Turner Broadcasting Super Deluxe, is developing her show Trans with Electus, and her series Temptest with The Wolper Organization. Vargas is also writing and producing her original TV and VR series with The Rogue Initiative.
Linda Gedemer serves as the Technical Director and VR Audio Evangelist for Source Sound VR - a worldwide leader in VR sound services for cinematic, game-based, and live broadcast virtual reality experiences. Linda holds an PhD in Audio and Acoustical Engineering from the University of Salford, UK. She has presented at conferences worldwide on topics as diverse as the use of 3D technology in the classrooms to perceptual requirements of dynamic acoustic models and is currently contributing to a book on audio for VR. In an effort to forward the work of scientists and practitioners working in this field, she developed and co-chaired the first AES International Conference on Audio for VR/AR.
Kemi Azeez is the Product Manager at Within – premier destination for innovative virtual reality. Her work has expanded beyond the traditional; her craft straddles new technologies and unfamiliar mediums. Kemi holds an undergraduate degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences (MIT) and a graduate degree in Television Production (Boston University) and has previously worked at RIKEN Brain Science Institute, Stun Creative, Hulu and Wevr. In recent years, Azeez has focused on using virtual and augmented reality innovations in video and mobile applications and continues to test the frontiers of interactive experiences and technology.
The workshop is located in the heart of Beverly Hills at Arrow Nine, a start-up investment firm focusing on emerging technologies and innovation. Parking is available in the rear of the property. Early arrival is suggested as parking is limited. There is also plenty of street parking on Charleville and Gregory Way. Plan for a 2 minute walk.
